FHOS Fishing Report 08/13/2021

It’s been a while since we’ve posted… bear with us as we get onto a more regular schedule and better about updating our Fishing Reports section.

In typical years, August is a less than stellar month for our local waters. Maybe some Bonita, the occasional Dolphin or Kingfish. But this is 2021, so typical is out the window. This past week, we’ve seen our Charter fleet get into some serious Sailfish action with many double digit releases on back to back to back days. This time of the year, it’s live bait driven so be sure to have plenty of sabiki rigs and spend the early morning catching baits. This past week, Bull Shark barge was one of the more productive bait spots. There have been a fair amount of kings along with the sailfish, so be prepared for some cut-offs, or try a small trace of wire if you are looking for some meat.

We’ve also had a nice wahoo on the cleaning table at Sailfish Marina this past week. There’s a full moon on the 22nd of the month, and if weather doesn’t get a little screwy due to some tropical disturbances, we will likely see some nice wahoo in the next week.

INSHORE – The snook bite has been solid. We had two of our Fish Heads staff catch and release over 60 fish in a short evening trip this past week. Live bait was doing the trick.

With Tropical Storm FRED hopefully passing well west of Florida, we are expecting a bunch of rain over the weekend. Doubt too many boats will be on the water this weekend and the next disturbance behind FRED looks to have us dead center in the “cone of death”. Timing of that might be Wednesday of next week so its really going to be a tough week on the water locally in Stuart.
