FHOS Fishing Report 12/29/2020

Hoping everyone enjoyed the holidays and getting ready for a successful 2021…. 2020 kinda over it… anyway, sorry for the missed few days, but trying to write a fishing report with a crazy family schedule over Christmas is just about impossible. Any way, here goes…

Offshore – Sailfish action has turned over the past few days courtesy of these Northerly winds. Look ENE of St. Lucie Inlet in 120 – 200′ of water for a starting point. Quite a few fish being released. Dolphin bite has gotten decent as well with plenty of fish for some Mahi tacos. Nothing huge… heavy lifters, but good numbers nonetheless. The winds pick up over the next couple of days, swinging around to the SE, and sea conditions get a little bumpy.

We have another cool front next week, just in time for the Pelican. Good luck to any of our local boats fishing the tournament.

Nearshore / River – Mackerel starting to show up out front. Use Glass Minnow chum to keep the macks behind the boat and try drifting back a Clarkspoon when throwing small handfuls of chum. The Gulf Stream Flash Minnow is a Go-To lure for this fishery as well. Cast the Flash Minnow behind the boat, let it sink and rip back to the boat.

Pompano are around. Fish Bites and sand fleas are doing the trick on them.
